Data Analytics Business Manager

A graduate in Mathematics specialised in Artificial Intelligence, Lali Soler was the head of the Earth Observation Department at the Cartographic Institute of Catalonia, where she worked in collaboration with data analytics teams, developing and creating new automation systems and new digital products. She received an MBA from ESADE and was specifically trained in innovation management by the ISEAD school, which currently forms part of the Big Data Centre of Excellence in Barcelona, whose mission is to promote the use and understanding of data analytics in the business world and to lead the implementation of pioneering projects that help to solve real business problems via data analysis. She is a professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s Master’s programme in International Business Management and of the Master’s programme in Big Data Solutions at Barcelona Technology School.

Ph. D. Data Scientist Lead at the Advanced Analytics Department

Carmen Herrero is a Data Scientist Lead at the Advanced Analytics unit of MANGO, where she applies advanced machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence to obtain insights and offer a data-driven approach to business areas with high impact on the results. Before joining the retail giant, she was a data scientist at Eurecat, working on projects related to mobility, tourism, and smart cities. She previously worked as researcher, and had started her career at the Marine Science Institute in Barcelona, where she obtained a Ph. D. in physical oceanography, studying how ocean processes can affect the climate on really long time scales. She also holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Physics.

Ph. D. AI & ML Data Scientist | Adjunct Professor

Liana Napalkova works as a data scientist at Microsoft and an Adjunct Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Liana holds the PhD degree in engineering science from the Riga Technical University. Liana started her career as a Visiting Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona, and then she made the move from academic research to industry and applied research, especially focusing on the fields of air transportation and logistics. Her professional interests include the design and development of intelligent decision support systems using cloud computing, big data technologies, machine learning and mathematical optimization.
